I have a new piston, rings, wrist pin and freshly bored cylinder to install. The wristpin journal in the connecting rod is ever-so slightly worn. There is no endplay or "piston slap" but if I rock the pin I can feel a fraction of play.
How much more work is involved in replacing the rod? Special tools required??

Rod requires a split of the cases...
The only special tool I know of is the 4 prong for pulling the clutch. If you have the earlier year x's.
The cranks will have to be unpressed and repressed back together. If you change out the rod.
Which year x do you have?

I'll just add that you'll need a flywheel puller and a good machine shop can put in the rod. It will run you from 50 to 150$ to change that rod, labor only. And, a gasket kit and the oil seals should be changed too.
That rod couuld cost you about 200$ when said and done.....
