Trikotic

My battery keeps dyin on me. The battery does not look new, so I just want to make sure that its the battery that is bad and not a problem with the wires. The rear brakelight is missing off the trike, so the wires are loose and I did not know if that would cause the battery to drain faster than normal. I also don't have a keyed ignition, instead I have a toggle switch to turn the ignition on/off. If I charge the battery fully, the electric start will work fine and the headlight works fine, but if i run the bike with the head light on for a few hours the battery starts to die. So I just want to make sure that the battery is junk and its not a wiring problem. Also, the only battery I can find for it is a ProMax for 57 dollars from DK. Is there any other quality battery out there? I need something that will be reliable in my cold New England winter. Thanks
