CR 250 Rad valve

I just purchased a nice 1986 ATC 250r.It has never been apart,but is due for a rebuild.A few mild upgrades would be nice while its apart.Would the rad valve from a 1998 cr 250 fit and allow the use of the stock airbox?What carb would be a good replacement?Thanx.

The rad valve off a cr250 is setup for a 38mm carb but I'm not sure if it will line up with the stock ATC air box. A 38mm carb in itself is a good upgrade on a 250r.

CR-ATC Reed valves are the same. best base build is FMF or Paul Turner HR, have the head milled, or cool head, 38mm carb and vforce 3 reeds.
