oil temp sensor

how doe you wire one up . i got one on my big red cause it has a trx 250 fourwheeler engine.i dont know if i have to wire it in to the battery or what i am so confused when i t comes to this electric stuff.

what are you connecting the sensor to? Is it for a idiot light, or a gauge? Most electric sensors work by providing a ground, so you connect the 12 V power to the high side of the gauge or light, and connect the sensor to the low side.
