View Full Version : Jet size vs hole dimeter chart??

Is there a chart that states what the actual hole diameter is based on the jets size. For example, a 144 main jet equals .032 etc etc.

I ask because years ago when I called Sudco and spoke to someone he claimed that the best way to jet a carb when more fuel was desired was to simply drill it out until you are satisfied with the jetting. I had a 0-60 index case and did as he suggested and it worked out great. I have since jetted everything this way and had no problems, although you cannot go back down. My only concern was that a drilled hole may not be a smooth as a purchased jet and could upset the mixture. He told me not to worry but if I was overly concerned that I should get it close and then buy the jet new with the same diameter hole I created with a drill bit.

So, now I have a bag of jets that I have tinkered with and would like to know roughly what there equivalent to a jet size is in comparison to the actual hole I drilled. Has anyone seen a chart such as this? I'd like to print one out for the shop...... Thanks for any help.

Ok. Did some searching and found alot of junk (lol) and also found this

I know this might be some old info, but it might help.

Hey likestrikes, can you post some more sizes that you are for shure on (like 144 = .032) only need 2 more sizes. I'm a math geek:eek: :chuckle: ;) and if I can get 2 more sizes I might be able to caculate a chart of all the different sizes, and hole sizes and I'll post it. (hope this made sence?.....) if you could PM me with the info that would be great! That way I could get started right away!

Thanks

Actually I just threw that out there. I can come up with the X, SX and 350X stock number versus the drill I can insert inside them because I have some kicking around. But, it will be close but not dead nuts as gauge pins or something similar would need to be used for an accurate sizing.

I'll grab some out of my carbs in the next couple of days. There simply has to be a chart somewhere, maybe they don't want us to have it??

I'm willing to bet that the size increments are very small or maybe just a thousand or so in each numerical step.

I just think that it's crazy to buy 7 jets at 2.99$ to "expirement" with on one carburetor..... And repeat the process for the next project, Ughhhh....

Likestrikes, or someone out there that can answer this, what are the sizes for the 68 and 65 jets (in thousandths of an inch)? If I can get this info, I can just make a chart and post it;) I'm VERY GOOD with math and if I can get these two other sizes I can make a chart of all the common sizes and hole sizes.
I think alot of people could use this chart (including me ;) ) and just need that info to make it.

Thanks:thumbsup:
