As long as your motor didn't ingest water it's ok but it's your rear end you should worry about. The SX has a tendancy to get water intrusion in the rear end and you should pull it apart and see if it's full of water. If is been properly maintained its whole life it should be dry but since many people neglect the O rings and seals chances are it's going to have water in it.

One good way of getting the water out is to pull the drain plug on the diff and let all the oil run out. Reinstall the drain plug. Buy a bottle of isopropyl alcohol at the drug store and put in 100CCs. Put the fill plug in back in. Jack the wheels off the ground. Start it up and put it in first gear. Run the rear end for about 2 minutes. Shut it dow and drain the alcohol out. Let it air out for a while then refill it with fresh gear oil.

The alcohol displaces the water and carries it away and doesn't leave a gooey mess. Also, check your axle bearings and the universal joint. I tell you all of this because the SX I just got done rebuilding was extremely corroded because nobody ever cleared water out of the diff or axle assemblies. There were no bearings or seals left. Even though there were no bearings or seals lit still drove and pulled hard. These things are pretty tough.

I didn't mean to get in to a long and drawn out thing but the bottom line is the SX don't react well to water so stay out of deep water and if you do, make sure to clean it out.
