86 200x that starts when it wants to.

I have a 86 honda 200x that seems to start when it wants to. i have put a new ignition wire on it, new plug, new cdi box, triple checked the ground, chased all the wires, put new run stop switch. Does not get a spark. will run if you pull it behind something if pulled fast. Took left side cover off sat. there was oil in the case and on the stator coil. Is that normal? Also should the coil be magnatised or not. The coil has a slight magnetic pull to it. after i got the oil off it and put it back together it ran for a few then cut off. it sat for about 8 hours then ran. and now it has not started since sat night and wont start now. Any suggestions would be great. i am about to go crazy.

I haven't seen a '86 bottom end apart, not sure if the stator is wet or not on that one. It sounds alot like the stator is weak though.

they are in a oil bath. you can test the stator to see if it's bad. do it right after it dies.

they r in oil but ck stator output all it takes is a little break in the winedings
