New to the board and looking for some info.
For years a friend of mine has done all the maintenance on my 85 big red as I had no place to work on it and he needed the $$
Well, he is gone now and I have a small shop so I'm doing it.
Went to change the oil and have NO idea where the filter is. Never had a manual on the thing so I have no clue.
Any help is appreciated.

See if you can find your trike's manual on Dammit's page: http://www.drivehq.com/file/ShowFolder.aspx?catID=0&subCatID=0&sort=&isInc=&isGallery=true&share=true&shareID=233462&parentID=636956&parentPath=\\dammit\manuals\

Well there are no such thing as stupid questions other than the one not asked. Welcome to the board! The filter is on the RIGHTside of the trike (if you are sitting on it) under the black plastic piece on the side of the engine. There are 2 phillips screws to remove that plastic piece and then 3 bolts to remove the case. Careful when removing it as there is a spring on the back side of the filter. The best way to install it, is to have the trike on the side or tilted so you can put the spring back in and then the filter.
Check page 2.2 on the service manual for pics and better description.

It's actually in the right side under the black plastic. The left side is the starter gears. ;)

Do you have a 250ES Big Red or the 200ES Big Red? The 200 does not have a filter, only a screen behind the clutch cover, if it's the 250, listen to the others.
