I just started going through my newly acquired ‘84 250R and noticed three problems. 1. The Throttle broke internally at the plate where the square drive inserts. My search on eBay was fruitless, unless an '85 throttle fits. 2. The chain slider is gone and finding one has proven fruitless also, '84 must be a bad year for parts, what I did find out, and I hope I am wrong, but it looks as though the swing arm has to come off to replace the chain slider. 3. The front brake master cylinder reservoir leaks brake fluid, and I can not find seals for it. Anyone know of a place? I thought about switching to a twist throttle.

You should be able to make an 85/86 ATC or 86-89 TRX throttle work. It may not fit perfectly, but it should be doable. No idea where to find a chain slider for an 84 R but again, you might be able to make one from another model or dirt bike work. Lastly, most chain sliders are removable without removing the swingarm.

I sell a swing arm kit for the 83/84 if you fined you need one.
a lot of throttles use the same guts.
