well I just bought a 85 atc110. I found it cheap and it had be sitting for a couple of years. Before I tried starting it I took apart the carb and it looked clean. Then I put everything together and put some gas in it and it started up after around 20 pulls. I just ran it for a minute to make sure it was going to run. I spent some hours cleaning everything up and freeing up the brakes and all the stuck parts. New gas lines, fresh oil, etc.. I have run it around the yard a bit and it doesnt idle well and sometimes bogs down when giving it gas. I since then have taken apart the carb and cleaned everything out with carb cleaner, everything looks good from what I can tell. I tried adjusting the idle and fuel mixture screw, without success. It seems to idle up high and then back down. If you give it gas it will idle up and then if I adjust the idle screw a 1/4 turn back it will come back down really low and die. It really seems to be the carb but what?? I will check the jets again other than that I dont know what to look for. I've read that maybe adjusting the needle up or down??

That is one nice 110,
Based on your reading, I can assume you cleaned the air filter, Exhaust is free and clear? so we can rule that out, and the electrical doesnt strike me here, but it is an option... But with the carb I am leaning there. What jets do you have in it? Sounds to me the carb is not tuned right, except unless someone has changed the jetting it should be fine after a good cleaning...
Next is it clicking? like valves out of adjustment or the machine out of time?
Usually those above can be your issues for these... Though I do not believe I was much more helpful
Did you clean the tank and put a in line fuel filter on it?
There could be crap in the tank that is pluging the jets.

What is between the carb and the intake? Is it a metal to metal with a gasket connection, or does it have rubber or plastic? Either case there are no vacuum leaks right? Plug look good? You drain the old gas and put some good stuff in it? Changed the oil already? Oil level correct? Fuel line is not bent or obstructed right?
These are all things I am would check first. Then go from there.

Fresh oil...tank is clean...new fuel lines...i haven't changed the spark plug yet...i don't have an air filter in it right now....but i do have a large UNI filter from my YFZ wrapped around the little metal air thing....i don't know what the jetting is, i will check tomorrow.
what are my valve tolerances suppose to be? how do i find TDC? I've never checked valves other than my YFZ.
The intake has a normal gasket and plastic gasket thing between the carb. I think it is tight and not leaking.
Thanks for saying it looks good, I only paid a $160 and I want to keep my cost under $200. SO for I need to buy an air filter and maybe a carb rebuild kit if I can't get it going good. I have to keep this cheap because all my money goes into my YFZ.

Got it!!!!! It was a problem with the polit jet, the center was clogged up. Now it starts on the first pull and runs great. I checked the valve tolerances and if I did it right, the valves are just under .005" my feeller doesn't go under .005". I dont really know what they are suppose to at, but I dont think they are far off from the way it runs.
I plan on keeping this for a long time... I would really like to find a nice deal on a good 200X or 83-84 250R. The 200x and 83-84R are the only sport honda atc's that I havent owned over the years. I'll just keep my eyes open....
Thanks
Nick

I am glad you got it working. I am not sure what the valves are supposed to be set at though. I am sure there is someone around here with that info.
NICE WORK
