I'm going to get this thread started, and see if we as a group can compile information to help people replace or update those old parts. As people reply with their lessons and experience, we'll put the information for each model in its own page.
Pictures are always welcomed if there were some modifications necessary to make the custom replacement!
If you see information that doesn't agree with something you tried, don't be afraid to chime in. This will help keep from steering people the wrong way, or open the discussion if something special had to happen to make this particular part work.
