Hi, I am new, but am very glad i found this board. This is my second 200x, as i sold my first one that had a cam, and was bored over, that was a mistake. So i found the one i just bought for $150. It doesnt run, see below for that. Anyways, its a 85' 200x that i am doing a complete rebuild on. If i decide to run a 12:1 piston, can i get away with 91 octane gas? reliably? or should i just go with a 10.5:1? Here in Oklahoma, the highest octane we have at 97% of the gas stations is 91...Just wondering...
Also, anyone know where to get a crankshaft/rod assmebly for this trike? My rod bearing is shot, and locked up, that is the main reason for the rebuild.

the basket man is right ,,,10.5 to 1 is all the higher you need to go , unless you want to buy $4 a gallon gas ,,just to ride to the mailbox to get the mail,,,, 10.5 is enough to give you a little boost in power without the headaches of racegas,,,,,,,,,,,,

Ive got a 12:1 WIseco .020 over in my 87 200x.
You can use the highest pump gas w/ octane booster...youll be just fine. Dont let nayone tell you any differant.

wow, thanks for the quick responses guys. I guess I will just stick with the 10.5:1.
Does anyone know anything else about getting a crankshaft? I was told by a guy on another board to see about having a local machine shop rebuild it. I am going to try to call around today and see I guess...

ok, i am at work, and will try that when i get home. Anyway, i found a motorcycle salvage in my area. I called them, and they said they have some 3 wheeler engines, but doesnt know which would be to a 200x? How can i tell a 85' 200x motor from all the others that i am going to see tomorrow? Anything special about them? I know they are stamped 192, so thats a start. But i bet that there are some motorcycle motors stamped that too...any advice guys...?

All engines have an id # Here are your years you should be able to get away with.....
TB05E-6000034~1983
TB05E-6100001~ 1984
TB05E-6200001- 1985

Itll be small engine, black. 5 Speeds (if its an 83-85) and if you look on the right side, there will be a thing for the clutch cable to go on for the manual clutch.

ok, cool...this rocks...so where is the ID at on the motor usually? I knew to look for the 5 speeds, and clutch, i just didnt want to find one i thought was a 200x, and it be of some 200 dirtbike or something, and not work...

I'd mix in some race gas at 4 or 5:1 ratio with premium. It's actually cheaper doing it that way than buying octane boost and you're alot better off in the end.

Is there any advantage to going with a 66 mm piston from powroll.com over a weisco 66 mm piston from dennis kirk? the weisco piston is about half the price of the powroll? It doesnt say what comp. ratio the weisco is though? Any ideas?
Also, going with a 66 mm piston, what does that bored the cylinder over to? .060? or what?
