Hi guys. Who does a 10 inch front wheel for a 86 Honda 250R. Are any modifications needed to make it work, or do they bolt right on? I'd like to get a tougher 6 ply front tire and have one in mind but it only comes 10 inch. Any pros/ cons to going 10 inch? Thanks.

dougless wheel makes them. they are expensive. they have the stock honda bolt pattern.

depending on the size of the tire will determine benefits/downfalls

there are 23" tires for 10" rims.

for mx 22"x7"x10" are a very good choice.

for trail i'd stay with the 23". losing an inch of rim will give the tire a little more give so you may want to run your air pressure a little higher then normal.

Dammit!

You have to grind down part of the brake caliper for it to fit. Then you have to think about the dents we tend to get in the desert. Imagine you're cruising 50+mph, hit a rock that puts a good dent on the right side of that ten inch rim that on the next revolution nails that brake caliper because there's hardly any clearance. Not good.

two good points dammit, i forgot about the caliper and.
The 10 in rim is more suited to MX then desert.

dove, carlise maks a 24" front tire called the trail hawk. I had one once it wasn't realy suited for my area or riding style but it might be worth looking into. i know it was one tough tire. sucker's heavy too. it comes with really good sidewalls that protect the edge of the rim. i'd bet it make a good desert tire.

I've actually tossed around the idea of getting a custom 12 inch wheel made with a reinforced edge. Never got past the idea stage though. I think there are a lot of 23-24 inch tires that fit 12 inch rims. The ute quads use them. The extra space would allow for a re-inforced rim and still have room for the caliper. Might be a good idea, might be a bad idea. :lmao:
