my biks burning oil bad how do i tell if i need a new sleve or rings

You need to do a compression test first. You can get a guage at most auto parts stores for $20 or less.

ask urself is it smoking bad?...well one thing u need to look at is does it smoke all the time..if it smokes and then stops when it warms up the rings are not all that bad...compression is also easy to check..is your pullstarter easy to pull..if it is then u have lil compression :doh: ...now if u go to get the copression checked and its low..it could also be ur valves..same goes for burning oil it could b ur valve seals...but changing rings is fairly easy and u shld just do it soon as u can to be safe..because u dont want to risc cylinder dammage..anyway....lets just say when u can feel a power difference its too late :bash: :bash:

i have my motor taken apart and i need to know what to look at to tell if my cylinder is junked

if it has gouges, chips missing, chunks missing deposits of magnisum frrom the pistion, it should be smooth inside if it is rough you may be able to hone it and make it better. hows the piston look??? are the rings free or are they stuck? is the piston all messed up and scratched? is the piston cracked?

the wall looks finr the rings are worn but still have spring in them the piston is black with oil and carbon no cracks should i just put a head gasket kit(rings valves seats head gaskets lower jug gasket) in it and go

well your there so throw in some rings and hone the cylynder too. maby even a wrist pin and bearing?
