I just wanted to share. I've been riding my '85 around the neighborhood since the snow fell a few days ago, what a blast! I don't have a good place to ride, so having some snow to play in has been great.

Ok, back to what you were doing.

Hmmm...pictures. I think I have some somewhere. I'll see if I can get some new shots later today. Here's a long story while you're waiting.

I'm fairly new to the ATC world. I bought a nice Trail 70 this past summer that also came with a beat up Trail 70 and a non-running 1983 ATC70. I've been restoring the nice bike, and I got the beat up bike running, and then also was able to get the poorly maintained ATC running. Then, after riding the 3-wheeler around the yard, the weld holding the flywheel to the crankshaft broke. Yes, it used to have a nut doing the job, but sometime in its past someone welded the crank to the flywheel.

Well, thanks to craigslist, I found someone willing to take my beat-up Trail 70 in trade for a very nice '85 ATC70. It didn't run, but turned out to only need new points. This is the one I'm riding now. Ohio doesn't seem to be a great place for ATVs and I don't have anywhere good to ride it. If I had this back in middle-of-nowhere-Nebraska back when I was a kid, it would be running all-out every day.

I have the '83 trike torn apart and I'm trying to muster the courage to tear the engine down. I have a replacement crank and a gasket set, but keep putting off the rebuild. After I finally get this done, with a gas tank coating and a front fender, this will be a pretty nice trike.

If this works, here's some shots of the '85. It needs a good cleaning, but is in pretty nice shape. The inside of the gas tank is perfect, and it starts and runs beautifully.

And here's one action shot. I think I'm getting the kids interested just a few years too soon. Also, I'm a few years too late for some real fun riding. I lived near Pismo/Grover Beach California for several years and had no ATVs at all. Now I'm in Ohio and find them all over. Hopefully I'll have the toys and the place to ride all at the same time one day.

Yeah, just wait until she learns it has more than one gear! First gear and idle in second is enough for her now, but that'll change before I know it. It will be like riding in the old Mustang "faster, faster faster!"

Nice 70!

What kind of tires are those?? They look more square than most, how do they ride??

dale those are scorpion tires,,,, i will have to say now with all these chinese quads out there ,, there are getting to be more tire choices for atc 70's!!!

Yes, they're Scorpions that came with the trike. They might not have been my first choice, but only based on looks. Some of the other tires look pretty cool and these look a bit more factory original. I believe these to be some of the lowest priced tires in the size.

They seem to work well, feel much more firm than the factory tires I have on my other 70. I only have maybe an hour of ride time and only around the yard, though. I'm still looking for a good dune or trail here in Ohio.

I had them on my 70 too. They were good tires too.

Might have to look at a set of those.

Richard, I will consult you before buying tires, you keep up with what is available better than I do.
