Does anyone know if the shifting drum on a 5 speed tri-z is the same as a 6speed? I built another Z and bought a 6 speed to go in it its a 6speed and shift thru all gears but now awhen in first gear it feels like a gear with sheared teeth. i tore it down and no metal all teeth good. Drum or shifting forks? I should have use one of my othe 6 speeds that i know is good.
And guys I have a tri-moto 200 if anyone is interested

I started to look this up last night, and got distracted (damn BEER)........
Have you looked up the drawings on bikebandit.com to see if they show the same shifting drum? I'll try to be more responsible this afternoon and help you do some searching.:bitchfigh :bitchfigh :bitchfigh

I didn't find anything different with the shift drum. I didn't go through the entire transmission to see if there were different washers or shims. I think the shift forks were even the same in the drawings I looked at.
Did you put your drum and forks together with another set of gears for a 6 speed?

I haven't found anything different in the drum. I know my 85 had different shift forks than my 86's. I thought they would be the same also. What would make it feel like its poppin in and out of first. Thanks for helpin

check your basket for grooves from the plates..if grooved you must pull the basket and file it untill you hit the low spot's in the basket..no need to go any further...A grooved basket will make it hop, chug, studder sensation
