I have a 1984 atc 250r. I want to extend the swing arm a couple of inches. Where would I go about looking for one that would work for it? Any after market companies make extended swing arms for these? I dont need another radical, just a couple inches longer would work.

Thanks

You can extend the stocker, but kinda difficult because of the tubing that honda used and the angle.
Another option is to pickup a 85-86 and convert it all over. Not sure if the 85-86 physical measurement is longer or not, but certainly alot easier to extend. You could be into this less than having a new swinger made to work with the 84 carrier and axle.
I have used my 86 chromoly swinger on both my 86 and 84. Shoot me a pm if ya need the phone number. Probably in the 350 to 400 range though, my builder doesn't do anything but chromoly.

i am in the middle of extending 2 85 swingers. no reason to extend 2 inches in my opinion. 4 minimum or it aint worth doing. 6 isnt even all to radical. my R is pluss 5. i love it.

Doesnt the '84 have the chain on the other side than the '86?.. Not saying it cant be done, but swapping them back and forth?

yes you're right, opposite side drive. Not ideal, but will work in a pinch, or if you've only sprung for one swinger like me. The most interesting part is bleeding the brakes upside down!!

with the '86 swinger on the '84, what did you do for a chain slider?

Are you sure? +2 seems good enough for me. +4 makes the trike seem lethargic when trying to swing it around.

Azjay:
Should of welded one on, but wasn't too concerned with chain slop as I like mine relatively tight. Plus I was runnin a marvin shaw, very little movement.

Ted is right IMO. +2 is going to do you very little. +4 or 6 and you can still trail ride and Jump. +8 and beyond, the trike is longer, harder to control in tighter trails, and jumping with any degree of height is certainly not recommanded. I have a +8 Podsracing swingie and like it, but I'm pretty sure they dont make one for the air fooler trikes, just the liquids
