I wasn't able to find a smoothie tire for the 11 inch front wheel on my 84 300r so I shaved and smoothed my own, well I 'm at it again for my 350r dragtrike so I thought I'd share the process as I go you need lots of normal automotive razor blades and a cheap walmart razor scraper and don't be afraid to change blades often also you'll need a pair of pliers to grasp the knobs as you slice from underneath. Be very careful not to slice off too much because when it's all done you'll see gouges you want to leave just a little bit you'll still have to buff the tire with the grinder afterwards regardless, I'm shaving a kenda front max and I also remove all the tire I.D from the sidewalls so it's just all blank.
video kinda came out crappy.

WOW!!! I guess you have to do what you have to do to get a smoothie. Great idea.

Here's a look at the finished product from the last smoothie I shaved I used the same method and the same make and model of tire.

thats a shame you ruined a perfectlly good ft max. i've got severall bald tires you could have used. 23",23.5",24". Smooth tires for 11" wheels should be easy to find. most sand tire shops should have them. at least they used to and they don't just use them for trikes. severall buggies use 11" wheels

That's ok I'm not a big fan of the front max tire and paid nothing for it, I've shaved one before and I still have another one to turn into a mohawk tire lol besides it feels better when you can say you did it yourself.

I was just curious but i thought sand tires had a Mohawk pattern?? And i'm cheap and that sounds like a killer idea for a sand tire... hmmm ... i need a tire now
