My 350x Is Fast! But Its Not Going To Cut It For The Drags This Coming Season.
Im In The Process Of Buying A Sweeeet Atc 250r From A Friend Of Mine, I Plan To Set It Up To Rule The Drags. But Latly I Have Been Loving The 4-strokes! Im Plotting On Selling The 250r Motor (its A New Crate Motor) And Picking Up A 450r Motor To Build Up Real Good. My Only Problem Is I Dont Know How Its Going To Fit Or Work-out. Any Info Would Be Great On This Project. I Think If It Sounds Like Alot Of Fab And Frame Work, Im Going To Install A Croch-rocket Engine. Thanx:)

if your looking for a drag motor and a pretty easy swap go with a cr500 motor. lot more power then a 450 4 stroke

I Planned To Use A Built 450r Motor With High Compresion, Cam, Portered Head, And Other Goodies. Do You Still Think The Cr500 Motor Would Be Faster? I Know The Cr500 Are Fast, Ive Had Two A 1989 And A 1994, Bolth Extended Running Alcohol. But I Really Want The Four-stroke. If I Do Go The Cr500 Route, Will I Have To Get A Counter Ballencer To Prevent The Frame From Cracking? Thanx For All The Help! Im New To This Site And Loving It

a stock cr 500 has about 15 more hp then a 450R.
if you were to race MX i'd say you have ligitimate concerns for the frame. however since you will be drag racing it you should be fine.

Thanx For The Info! Now You Got Me Thinking 2-stroke Again. Sounds Like Ill Be On The Hunt For A Cr 500 Motor, But Im Sure It Will Be Much Easier To Build And Much Cheeper. I Just Cant Wait To Be Smoking Some Quads At The Drags This Year. Ill Start Posting Pics Of My Atcs Soon.

You had a CR500 on alky and did not think it was fast? These should make in the 60's for whp and 70's on alky with an inframe. If you had a custom built Sheer, on alky you should have been in the high 70's maybe even an 80 whp number. However, it's the torque from the big bore cyclinder is what you should have noticed the most. In order to get a 450R motor (Honda I am assuming) you would have to spend a ton of coin to even compete.

I have a cr500 powered 400ex and a built 06 trx450, Both are flattrack quads, and on big long tracks or drag races the 500 will eat the 450 for lunch. If you did some searching you would probably find the informatuion your looking for on the 500.
