How many bolts hold on the head? I got out the 12mm nuts, the 2 8mm bolts, and the single 10mm bolt. The head still won't come off and I don't want to pry too hard.
I thought the bolt that goes through the water inlet neck might be holding it down...however that @%@#%@^%@#%^er broke when I was trying to take it off. Is that what's holding it on or should I just pry harder?
Any ideas how hard it will be to drill out this bolt?

I talked to the local mechanic and he was 99% sure the piston was installed backwards. he said it would run but it would act exactly like it's doing now. I just wanted to take the head off and see.

oh, i really think you ahve a carb problem. it ran good when it ran but was a pain to start and idle. depending on what you want to do i would put a 36mm carb on it and have fun.

Thanks Mik. Do you have any closeup pics of the area around your engine? I noticed that where my pipe is attached to the frame it doesn't look stock. There's a piece of metal between the pipe bracket and the frame bracket. It doesn't quite look right. Just wondering how much on this bike is 'rigged. :(
DAN, There is a little hanger w/ a rubber anti-vibe block on it. Alot of the frames I have looked at have a bolt broken off in the hanger piece. So you will see some different type of creative engenering LOL. I have a few good picts of my motor, from when i was rebuilding my T3, I will send them to you , but they are HUGE. I am working 12 hour nites at a plant shutdown rite now, so it might take a little while.
Before you put the head back together you might want to clean the powervalves. When i had probs w/ the actuator/carb it gummed up the powervalves. The come apart pretty easy, and w/ a good coat of the proper grease they will make a big improvement. If you need the info on them let me know. I will give you a good step by step, OR just photocopy the chapter and send it to you LOL.
I'll send you a pict of the motor today
GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the info. Does this powervalve stuff involve removing the jug? I've heard that doing that with powervalves is a big PITA.
Here's a pic of mine with the head removed. It's supposed to be on it's first tank of gas since a rebuild, but I'm not sure.
Dan, If I was you I'd send this pict to JEB. To me the piston looks pretty dark(burnt). JEB would know more than me. I know when my piston looks that dark the carb is out of adjustment, and if the piston is that black the powervalves are prob. gummed up.
Yes the jug needs to come off for the powervalve work. It is a PITA, but w/ alittle help it is pretty easy (JEB and my manual helped me thru it, now it seems easy).
Did you get the picts from me? If you need me to ill copy the chapter on the powervalves and send it to you.
LET ME KNOW

yeah I could definitely use the info. that piston is definitely black. I had to scrape some soot off of it.
I'd like to see the powervalve stuff before I decide if I'm brave enough to tackle it.
