HELLO AGAIN, FIRST OFF I GOTTA SAT I LOVE THIS SITE!!!:lala:
MY NEWEST QUESTION IS ABOUT JETTING MY 350X WITH A 400EX CARB.
IVE SEEN NOS'S RIGHT UP AND HIS JETTING BUT IM NOT SURE IF THATS WHAT I NEED. THE OTHER DAY I INSTALLED MY NEW ALL STOCK 400EX CARB ONTO MY 350X, ITS A TIGHT FIT BUT I HAD NO PROBLEM PUTTING THE STOCK AIRBOX TUBES TO THE BOX AND BOX TO FRAME. WELL MY X ALLWAYS STARTS RIGHT UP NO MATTER THE TEMP. FOR THE FIRST START I HAD TO PULL IT WITH THE ALL MIGHTY 125M UP AND DOWN THE ROAD A FEW TIMES. IT FINILLY STARTED AND I TUNED THE IDEL. IT RAN AND STARTED GREAT AFTER THAT. I HAVENT TRIED ANOTHER COLD START SINCE BUT IM SURE IT WILL BE EAISER NOW THAT ITS AJUSTED. AFTER IT WARMED UP, I RAN IT ACROSS THE LAKE AND BACK WIDE OPEN. THEN CHECKED THE SPARKPLUG, IT LOOKED TO BE PERFECT!!
IM CERIOUS TO KNOW WHAT MAY HELP COLD STARTS AND MAKE IT RUN BETTER? IM NOT VERY GOOD WITH CARBS, SO THIS IS WHAT I GOT. MY 350X HAS HIGH COMPRESION PISTION, MID RANGE CAM, COBRA HEADERPIPE AND MUFFLER (SOON TO BE HMF MUFFLER). K&N AIR FILTER, AND LIGHTENED AND BALLENCED FLYWHEEL. I RUN 104-110 OCT FUEL. I NEED ALL THE POWER I CAN GET OUT OF THIS BEAST. I HAVE A FEW FRIENDS WITH RIVELS GOING ON, AND I CANT LET ANY QUADS GET THE BEST OF MY 350X THAT THEY LIKE TO PICK ON. THEY JUST DONT GET IT. I DONT HAVE $10,000. TO BUY AND BUILD A NEW 450R PLUS IM INTO THREE WHEELERS. :hail:

Now being your running in the cold, I'd start Jetting up (richening) abit, like one size and start from there.

Ok , well I tried to fire up the 350x yesterday with the new 400ex carb on there and i must have kicked it over 50 times. I know 400ex quads are a bit cold blooded. I really need help in going in the right direction on jetting this carb to start up eaiser! The 350x always started 1st or 2nd kick with the stock 350x carb. I love the way it runs now with the 400ex carb but when cold it will not start up with out pulling it down the road for a jump start. After it warms up it starts no problem, and seems to be running very well. im not good with carbs, any help would be great! THANX!!!

i was told by a buy when you put a bigger carb to up your jetting 1-3 jet sizes per carb size jump. this of course depending on modifications to the motor and exhaust. example: i went from a stock 22mm keihn carb to a 26mm keihn carb. stock jetting is 100 main and i am now running a110 and its still kinda lean.
now the jetting jump wasnt a 10 size jump (100 to 110) keihn main jets go in increments of 2-3-3-2-2-3. (100 to 102 to 105 to 108 to 110 to 112 to 115 then it repeats. so i only jumped 4 sizes.
mikuni uses increments of 5 from jets 50 threw 200 and increments of 10 210 threw 500 and increments of 20 for 540 threw 720.
good luck and i hope i helped in some way.

theres more jets in acarb then just main jets (witch has nothing to do with a clod starting problem)
try to jump the pilot up a few sizes and tune the air screw

i know there is more than just a main jet. but when mine wouldnt start when i jumped the carb size it was because i didnt have a big enough main. my pilot jet is the same in both carbs. its a #35. anyway yea i forgot to mention the screw adjustments. my bad.

With the ex carb you should probably jump up on both quite a bit. Also rember the carb has an excellarator pump. Every time you push the thumb its shoots extra gas in there. So if you push it everytime you kick your quickly flooding it out. My gess for you pilot your going to be around 45. When you checked your plug was it a brand new plug? if it wasnt its useless what you did.

Thanx to everybody trying to help me out!!!
Im just wondering if the Dyno-jet kit would help me out and if that kit comes with the jets I will be needing? The kits are on E-bay right now, and it sounds like it may really help me out. I just wanted to ask around before I spend the $50.00
P.S. just picked up a 1985 ATC 200s and a 1980 ATC 110, bolth mint, and run great! got them from the original owner! Gottem bolth for $475.00
I also found a CR 500 converted into a trike that ill be picking up very soon. I will be posting pics of all my ATCs very soon.
Thanx again!!!:headbang:

honestly no. It will leave you in more confussion. The jets are generic and numbers wont coinside with what you have. Stick with oem brand jets They arnt expensive, you will be better off in the end. Do it right. You wont be saving anything by getting a dynojet. probably actualy spending more.
