ok here is a frame that is ready to install a cr 500 motor. the two little cross members by the footpegs are removed, there is a dimple in the framebehind the bottom motor mount that is needed to clear the clutch cover. the lower motor mount is also dimpled and moved . the part between the fotpeg mounts is also dimpled to clear the shifter!!! the motor was in and out thirty times before these points made it to there final position,,,, not an easy task,

here is what it looks like with the motor in, the swingarm bolt goes through the rear boss in the engine just like in the motorcycle you can see how tight everything fits in too

So with all of your modifications the outer perimeter of the frame hasn't been changed. The machine shouldn't sit any different than a stock one. If you had cut the frame at the bottom to stretch it then the fork rake or the swingarm angle almost surely would have been affected. It looks like with your setup you have a machine that still handles and feels like a 250R with the power of a 500. Wild. How much weight difference is there between the 250 motor and the 500 motor? 20 or 30 pounds? Less?

*sigh* Dude, it's depressing. The truth is that I live in Lebanon. Lebanon is the town that voted out town government this past summer. It's a Maine town at heart but it's being taken over by m-holes.... It's a big heard of flatlanders down here. I would love to move North to Andover..... now that's my kinda town. I have seen the trails up there. They are VERY impressive. Miles and miles and miles, I know. All the trails I know about here have been blocked by development. It's so depressing. I'm definately moving when/if I graduate from college and get a decent job. Sorry to tell you the awful truth. I'm fighting for survival down here!! Sandpits: blocked off, Power Lines: blocked off, Dirt Roads: all paved over, Trails bypassing developments: blocked off :(

Dude

We should hook up somtime!! I could show you tons of trails that you could ride whenever? Of course you would have to travel a bit but......... There is this HUGE pit right near Portland that I ride at!! Its in Dayton? Lots and lots of sand and rocks to ride/jump on!! Also in Greenville you could ride up there all day and never hit the same road twice! Last time I was up there we went 160 miles in 2 days of riding!! Lots of fun!! Last time I rode in Andover my group rode 60 miles in one day!! You got anybody you ride with!! If you want somtime before snow flies let me know and we will go riding? I could at least show you the sand pit in DaytoN!! Check out this its my girlfriends web page but it shows alot of pics at the places we ride!! Its all quades right now but there are a few pics of the Z in there also!!

Hey, cool site. You guys are hardcore. I'm way too pu55y to be getting my 350X airborne. The pits in Dayton are out on route 35 .... I've been by there in my car but I've never been riding there. How do you get down that far to go riding? That's only about 25 miles from here. It's funny, I've never considered Dayton to be near Portland, but I guess that it is relative to Turner.

Ya its real close to Portland compared to Turner!! I dont know the road names but I will get directions for you!! I think I am going there this Sunday ? Ya I wanna learn how to jump my Z! It must be alot harder than jumpimng a quad ?:headbang:

Im in the process of restoring it so it will have to wait till next spring!:headbang:

I think I see a small crack in the side of the frame, when you get done please send it to me so I can test it and make sure it won't break :)

Mr. Richard
10-08-2002, 06:44 PM
hey matt ,, i'm not tryin to avoid you ,,, here is some figures
250r rollin chassis must be complete $400
cr500 motor runner with all the jewelry $500
build a pipe $300
misc junk $400
500 hrs @ $70 per $3500 that makes around $5000

still cheaper than a new quad and alot faster!!!!!

(these figures are for estimating only so don't start jumping on my back!!) i know that there are brother in law and backyard deals here and there ,but if you just ran out and started buying its going to cost alot more!!!

Yeah, the significant figure was:

50 hrs @ $70/hour = 3500 labor. And that really is what it's worth.
