What chains do you guys run? How long does a standard chain last? For only $9.00, is it worth buying? I don't ride in wet weather hardly EVER, so if all I have to do is adjust it once in awhile, and lube it frequently, I have no problem with that...

I just bought an RK x-ring for my 350X (haven't installed it yet), but the Tri-Z's O-ring chain looks pretty tough. I'm trying to stay on momma's good side with it by not spending a fortune on it...;)

Non o-ring chains are for street bikes. When they are run on tar roads and not for dirt and dust. On a trike i think i would have to go with a o-ring.

If you want to get some more life out of your old chain. You can take it off and soak it in parts cleaner over night. Then take a wire brush to it and clean all the gunk and rust off of it. Then soak it in a can of oil over night. It seems to really help on chains that have been dry and siting for awhile on trikes.

The cheap chains seem like they are made out of weak steal and do tend to snap. There ok on a little 200cc street bike. But with something with power i would be afraid of it snapping and wrapping itself around the front sprocket and shattering things. Which would cost you more to replace then just buying a better chain. So try to clean up and oil your old one until you can afford to get a new o-ring for it.

I would definitely stick with the o-ring chain. It's worth the insurance

i would stick with the o-ring chain. my 200 had what i assume is a factory o ring chain on it and i just had to replace it last year because id had four or five master links in it from cracked side plates. and my 200 is a 83 so i think its worth the money for a good chain.
