i have a 1980 xr 500 and i want to put that motor in a quad, i was thinkin a honda trx250r. now i have already been warned not to "ruin" a trx2250r, but would i really be, i have seen quite a few guys put honda 350x motor's in these, and 3ww.com is putting an xr 500 into a 350x, so i was thinkin with some frame mods i could put the 500 into the trx. and opinions on this, major problems that i would come accross(besides frame modification).

and yeah, i'll bet those trx haul ***, but i think it would be nice to have a big honkin mean four stroke, that is a little more reliable in a quad that will hit sand, gravel, the trails and more th an likely catch some air.

now i already have kx 250 :headbang: for going super fast aqnd gettin huge air and bustin tricks, and i have my 225dx:demon: for trail bombing and bootin around, and i want the best of both of the both of them, in quad form.

well thanks to anyone who helps me out, feel free to reply even if it is just to tell i am an idiot

hey--I have an idea you might like. I plan on doing the same thing someday.

Take the entire XR500 machine........remove the swingarm and front forks/triples/tires/rims etc.

Mount up a 250R or 350X rear swingarm or whatever will be easier to mod. Run either 250R, 350X or Tecate front suspension/rims, brake sup front.

Boom...you have a KILLER 3 wheeler...entire chassis will already be more up to date than the 3 wheeler...and prolby some quads. Bikes are abotu 15 years ahead of all atv's, jsut to inform ya!!!

I would absolutely love to see someone do this.

Good luck witrh whatever ya plan to do, buddy!,
Rob

thats a pretty sweet idea, and i look forward to seeing you build this creation one day.

i am pretty stuck on the quad idea though, can anyone refer me to an awesome quad forum, (doesn't have to be quite as awesome as this trike one), where i can get some more help and ideas
thanks, and feel free to voice your opinion
