Hey all...
Well, the "Outlaw Loaner" 350X just got back from some well needed maintenance over to Raffa's.
Last winter I had lost my lights... thought it was a bad stator, but found a short in the wiring harness going to the regulator. So I had to replace all my bulbs and guess it ruinned my HL switch too, as that was the last obstacle before the HL's shown again.
Well, my taillight was cracked and the bulb was blown, so I decided to see what options were out there. I'm going to finally clean up this bike and make it a solid runner worthy of taking somewhere other than my own woods. SOOOoooo... off to find a new taillight.
After checking out a few truck stops, NAPA, and Car Quest, I finally stopped into Advanced Auto Parts. They had one that actually lined up with the stock mounting bracket!!! It's a 10 LED oval tailight - flush mount. It has 3 wires... ground (to green on 350X) and then the choice of tail (black) or stop/turn (red). I decided to hook up the stop/turn to be brighter so I wired that in (brown on 350X).
I ended up using the stock 350X nuts off the long taillight screws to mount it onto the stock bracket. The screws don't line up perfectly, but I used shorter screws from a old beat up carb, then put the metal colloar on the back side of the bracket to attach the taillight.
Here's the pics of the finished project. I primarily ride in the woods and my pet peeve is not seeing others when riding. This thing is bright!!! Got a Westcoast +3" swinger coming this weekend. Next project for the Outlaw Loaner Trike!!!! :headbang:
