i just got the carb back together and back on new fuel filters and such. i got a problem with it wanting to rev up on its own. i thought that maybe the cable was sticking but it isn't i dont think.
the screw thats by the bowl on the bottom, (the one thats pointing up and down not the one that is side ways) wasn't there supposed to be a setting on that, something like all the way in then back off 2 turns or something like that? would that have affect on it? also it seems to want to kinda bog in half throttle but if you go past that spot it picks up just fine?
seems also like i have to have the idler screw just about all the way in. that lil spring that is on the adjuster is about as compressed as it could get, maybe it could go a lil more but i dunno it doesn't look right to me. but then i don't know a whole lot about these yet.
so it will idle ok but then it seems when it wants to it will just start reving up?
whats the cause also for that drain on the bowl to be leaking out the fuel when the tank is on but the motor not running?
i guess thats enough questions for now till i get a resoponse,
Thanks, Howard

as for the fuel coming from the carb, I'd guess your needle & seat isn't seating properly or is worn out. when the bowl fills up the floats should rise and close the needle so no more gas can get in.
I think that's probably what is causing the revving too. Go buy a new needle/seat and I "think" that should fix it. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more info.
good luck!
oh yeah, I think screwing the idle know in makes the idle go UP, not down.

Hey thanks for the tip on the carb ill try that, i was gonna order the rebuild kit , i guess i should have. all i did was clean it real good.
the idle screw is up, but if i unscrew it any the idle goes to low? i guess it's fine it just didnt look right.
the real problem was that it starts to rev up on it's own and the other problem with the bowl filling up to much and pouring out the overflow drain. sounds like the right fix though (needle and seat).
wen't and rode it around a lil with Scott and his 4 wheeler.
don't see why we shouldn't make it. seems good to me.
Later, Howard
oh can you buy just a needls and seat?

yeah thats the kit i was going to buy was the moose rebuild kit for like 18 bux, but decided i would just clean it real good and try it out.
A KIT , LOL I dont think the cit will help. You still have a pease of crap stuck in your carb. And there is b proble no cleaner out there that will remove it with out eating your carb away.
The little bugger is in the none removeble jet. If you slide a wire in it ,it will come to a stop that is the jet, it has a pin hole that gets crap stuck in it. use a fine needle, I use cutting torch tip cleaners but a needle will work. the hole your dealing with is the size of a bread rapper wire (with out the coting) The needle will only go so fare in the jet hole so don't forse it. To check to see if it is clean slide the needle down at a slite angle till it stops move it side to side to find the hole the needle will go in the hole when you hit it. If this gets cloged , When you start the trike it will idle high "some times very high" At mid throttle it will run like it is missfirering a lot of hesitasion, and when you come to a stop it wqill take it's own sweet time to idle down. Makes it hard on the brakes tring to slow down or come to a stop. Good luck AL

DADS,
not sure wich or were the non removeable jet is? not sure were you are talking about really?
any more specific maybe of were the jet is.
Thanks, Howard
are you saying that you think it's not the needle/seat?
at start up it doesnt just rev up and when i come back to a stop it doesn't always rev up. seems like it has a mind of it's own, it will rev up just out of the blue, wiether it's sitting there for 2 minutes idling fine or it may have just came to a stop.
as soon as i turn off the motor about 3 seconds gas will start to come out the drain on the bottom of the carb bowl.
all i do to control it right now is turn the tank off.
half throttle hesitation isn't really that bad but bad enough to notice it. but it is constant if you hold it in that spot of the throttle.
were is that jet your talking about dads.?

The fuel leeking is going to be a floot problem, Bad fuel stopper needle or worped float which is alowing the fuel to reach the top of the brass over flow tube in the float bowl.

WOW!:headbang: :headbang: Thanks guys for all the good ideas. Now howie get to work so we can ride. Also I have the new petcock for you to helpwith problems......peace
Try a piece of metal guitar string, if you have one. That works great for cleaning out the very small orifices in the jets. It worked great on my '87 SX and the little 110 too. Hope this helps and good luck.

seeing how were on the topic my 110 has a 125 carb on it now whats the diffrence?? just jets? i know the needles have diffrent numbers, but can i swich needles or do i need to switch the seats too? and are all the parts interchangable?
If the carbs look the same, the parts will probably interchange.
and you mayhave to change the jet to match the needle if # are differant.

ok thanks ill have to give it a try. is there any other things i should know wbout, like hidden things to clean? the reason we put a 125 carb on was becayse the 110 carb had a verry large numb spot. so any help would be good.

well i went out and changet all the jets from the 110 carb to the 125 carb, and may i say holy ****, i didnt know a 110 had the power it dose, the thing runs like a top. now all that needs to be tended to is the burning oil. i guess from what i was told the rings never got broke in right, so im gonna try som stuff i just picked upo at the local convinence store. it says it reduces smoking and oil burning well have to give it a shot. so thanx again dads, you saved my buddy from walking while cutting trails tomorrow!
