I was wondering if anyone here has ever made a custom steering stem before? I have a 200e and want to put my 200x front end on it but the neck on the 200e is longer and more narrow. I priced a couple pieces of bar that would probably work for under 10$ but the machine shops are wanting upwards towards 200$ dollars to mill to spec and thread it! I just can't see how they justify charging that kind of money. any advice is appreciated.

Yes, anything is possible. I put a 250sx fork assy on a atc110. I just cut out the 110 stem and used it on the sx clamps. Maybe you could go that route?

Any machine shop is well worth 75$ and up an hour.
There gonna have to find a piece of thick walled cold rolled tubing that is close to the right size, if you can't provide a 1' length, they'll have to bore an or turn something down. Then there is the upper and lower journals, the journal for the triple and the threads at the top, not to mention that threading is no piece of cake either.
Better if you could find something close and adapt it.
Troll I like the new sand tire.

troll are you using the retainer nut that goes between the steering neck and the top clamp, or just the cap nut that goes on top of the top clamp?

Oh man, does this picture bring back memories!!!! I got my first quad at 13, it was a honda 125 barn find in great shape. Well when I bought it it had a ruined tire and i couldn't WAIT to ride it so I made a wooden wheel and rode it till it fell apart!:lmao: GOOD TIMES!!!!!!! Thanks for the memories troll!!!!!!!
I like the looks of the SX front end on the 110!!! WAY COOL!
