I am a 31 year old woman who has a fascination with ATV's. Not any kind of ATV but 3 wheelers. I am looking at purchasing something very soon, but here is the problem, I have no idea where to begin, so that is why I am here. To learn from all you guys.
Years ago my ex got me hooked on 3 wheelers. I like being outside the box. You see 4 wheelers just doesn't hold the passion for me that a 3 wheeler does. So guys where does a girl go to get a good 3 wheeler.

You can find good trikes everywhere. Craig'slist is a good place to start, or KSL.com, or Local papers. I guess it depends on where you live more but there are a lot of good trikes still out there waiting for someone to buy them and love them!:headbang:
Good luck hunting. Do you want electric start or do you enjoy kicking the piss out of them when they wont start? (like me)
250sx is a good outfit for a kinda beginner and it has electric start.
350x is a great trike, very reliable and usually well natured as to starting! But is is a kick start (you can buy an electric set up.
250r (my fav)you can never go wrong!
There are a few worthy trikes but there are many more out there. i would study them alittle while and I'm sure that you can find exactly what you are looking for.
Hope it helps.

Where I live, it seems that the only ones around are for parts only, nothing complete. I know a little bit about working on them, not completely overhauling. Hadn't heard of craigslist before. Thanks for the heads up..

Welcome to the board, and it's great to hear you share the same passion that we all do about the trikes.
Look into Craigslist.org and find areas near your location. Do searches under For Sale, and try searching for 3 wheeler and atc. You might be surprised what you find:D

Welcome to the board princess. I agree with 3WG in that the 250SX is an excellent machine to start with. Don't be shy around here. We are a fun loving bunch of guys and girls here. We have a few nuts as well but what family doesn't. No ? is too dumb. If you see a trike posted somewhere by all means, let us know. We'll be more than happy to electronically kick the tires. These guys are a huge source of knowledge and attitude. Use us tosuit your needs. We're here to serve you princess.. Your humble servant.
P.S. I hope the occassional foul word or random nudity doesn't offend your delicate pallet. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/sex023.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org) http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/ad/sorry.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)

Welcome to the site! Its great to see ladies coming aboard on the trike fetish. Like stated, check craigslist, local classifieds, garage sales and of course the dreaded egay. We are having a ride in MS this weekend at Dan (250sx, the board owner). If you could make it, it would be great to meet you and I am sure Dan would have an extra trike that you can ride....heck maybe he would sell you one too.
Here is the post with more info:

I can't believe I am going to miss the ride. I am actually going to be headed to Memphis or Arkansas for another hobby of mine. I will have to catch you guys later. :(
Ok another question. Give me some recommendations of what to stay away from?
Ok guys no bashing each other out because someone doesn't like this one better then that one. Just tell me what u think I should not buy, I am kinda polling the masses here. :)

it probably depends on what you want to do with it, a 250sx is a pretty good all around trike for you, it's auto, and has electric start, but yet some suspension and a bit higher speed than a big red. Can you operate a clutch?

Well it just depends on what type of riding you and your friends do. If you blast around trails and mx tracks, then a 250r or tri-z, tecate would be great. If you are just plain woods riding alot and dont mind a clutch, a 350x or 200x (depending on how much power you want) would work great. If you are just puttin around the trails and mud then a big red or 250sx would work great.
Height and Waite are a factor when considering what trike to get.
A little most info will help.

I am partial to all things honda, and if you don't plan on doing any SERIOUS hot-rodding, the 250sx is a good bet. If you want something more sporty, get a 200x. Neither one of those have too much power to start with. After you have riden either one of those for a year or more, you will know exactly what you want, if the particular machine you have isn't it. Good luck on the search.

No good on clutch. Thanks for the feedback... I have driven a big red several times and had no problems with it, except for the fact it didn't have any brakes and trying to stop it with your feet isn' t the best idea.

If you don't want a clutch then i would suggest a 250sx or bigred simply because you won't have to be pull starting it like you would a 200s or something else. I agree on honda as well. Usually a 250sx can be found cheaper than a big red I think that is what you want to be hunting pretty much.

Wow. I sure would love to see them sitting in the showroom like that again...
...trying to stop it with your feet isn' t the best idea.
Ain't that the truth! :burnout: :D
I agree that the 250SX would probably be the best choice. It's a great trike - comfortable, reliable (usually), easy to ride, it has reverse, it's not too slow & not too fast and, most of all, it's fun!
p.s. - welcome to the board!

Hi There!
My wife road a 85 200X up to about when she was 40 something, she loved it until she sold out to a electrick start (Pol.quad 400). Devorce papers have allready started.......just kidding, she had a blast on that 200X. It had plenty of power for her.

Not a big fan of the SX here. Too top heavy, and crappy suspensions. Learn the clutch, you will be glad you did. 200X's are everywhere and cheap. Do not pay more than $750 and then only if it's primo.

The main problem with 200X's is that they tend to be beat to crap. Another tack is to get a primo ATC110 or ATC125m and ride it until you outgrow it. Riding trikes will always have a learning period where you learn by painful lessons. (You must wear boots and helmet at all times) The 110 is every bit as fun as a 200X. Or...... there seem to be a lot of nice 185S's out there. Also a very fun trike as well as no clutch.
The good thing about the clutch on a 200X or up is that it translates to all motorcycles. Besides, it takes less than a day to get the hang of it.
A good way to judge the condition of a trike is by the wear on the cases, grips, tires, etc. All sellers are liars. Be willing to walk away. I can't tell you how many times I got "OK, Ill do it" told to the back of my head LOL LOL
P.S. Stay away from the 70's. Those trikes are for fags!
