Just found this site. Glad to see 3 wheelers are still around and going strong. I'm a semi- retired systems engineer from the space launch program. Live just south of Pismo beach, Calif. and have been riding trikes from 1977. Raced dune buggies before 3 wheelers started showing up. Bought an atc 90 and have been hooked ever since. Have also owned a 110, 185S, 200. I bought my 250R in 85 and still have it. Been to Glamis & Dumont but for the last 20+ years mostly at Pismo. Ride with a bunch of guys from the local AFB (Vandenberg AFB) we call it our attitude adjustment time and the need for some speed. I no longer let 2 wheel bike riders try my trike, they forget which way to lean on a turn but it is fun to watch them go throuh their tent instead of around it.
I'll try to attach a pic. My 250R has been modified and is dialed into the way I like it. I can beat about anyone off the line but some of the newer 4 strokers have the high end torque and beat me. More modifications will be made. Always looking for ways to go faster.
I have way more fun cutting up the slip faced dunes than any 4 wheeler.
That's it for now

I think you are right, I kind of remember. Give me a heads up next time you are out Pismo way.
Some of the best dune riding at Pismo is in the winter months. Not much fog and if the wind shifts off-shore it gets really warm. Just don't call friends living in the mid-west or east stuck in the snow. They really hate that unless they are out triking in the snow.
Best time we've ever had is the next day after a good rain, middle of the week. Sand is packed smooth and fast. Got to watch the tides to cross the river or just watch people try to cross at high tide.
I called in sick that day so the next day at work they noticed how red my face was and said I should go back home until my fever was down. Just smiled, went home and headed back out to the dunes.

Thats it for now

Nice looking trike. Perhaps you should inquire about coming to the Rampage this yr. Your set up for Windchester Bay with your current set up. Besides, always looking for another trike to race:headbang:

Hey HOOOSIER you are right on the pipe, it's an ESR. I spent alot of time dialing in my ride.
This is what I did so far.....
K&N & sock inside open air box hooked into 38mm Keihn PWK Air Stryker carb, carbon reeds, ported, cylinder bored 10 over, Weisco piston & gasket, performance O ring into an ESR pipe then into an ESR silencer. ( put an FMF sticker on silencer because the beach patrol knows how loud the ESR one is) Use a Moose-racing thumb throttle to get full range within less than 2 inches of movement. 0 to full throttle using of all the new breathing room that an R is capable of.

What I need now is some rear shock action. The original is gone so I just end up bouncing over the whoops. Can't open it up afraid of throwing myself off!!!!

Swing arm is +4

Any comments / suggestions on a decent replacement rear shock?

i got a local guy who rebuils my shocks pretty cheep. look for a guy like that who does side work. my guy works for the state doing maintence and repair on all the state owne quads watercraft and whatnot. i bet there is a guy you could find that lives close. look in the local clasifieds. mine is realy great. its amazing how good a stock shock can be if its right. or you could spend alot! its up to you.

Thank you for the link, had not heard of marvin shaw.

Sounds like their new "hill topper" might take the whoop out of my ride?

Have to wait a couple weeks to order. will let you know how it woorks.

Thanks for the good idea.
For right now I'm going to try one of the marvin shaw shocks called the hill topper. In the mean time i will look around for someone who re-builds shocks so i will always have the original. I agree, nothing beats original equipment.

It's funny how when you make one mod it always leads to another and another until sometimes you end up back at the original with a bunch of parts and opinions. guess thats just part of the fun

Thanks again
