Which Dg exhaust is better for the tri z, the DG National, or the DG xtreme? also in everyones opinion what is the best exhaust for a 85 tri z(stock build) that i can still purchase new?

I've been wrong more than I can count, but I THINK the difference between the national and extreme is just the coating. One is just bare metal with a clear coat, and the other is nickle, or something shiny, coated. Look at the two different versions, and I think you'll see what I mean.

If I'm wrong, I'll take my beating.

you are right on the coating thing i didnt know if there was an actual difference in the pipe itself. if so im going for the xtreme since it has the nickel coating should hold up a lot better. do you recommend doing anything else to it when i replace the exhaust? bigger carb? if so what size? etc

You won't find many people that will tell you a bigger carb ISN'T good for the motor! But how big to go depends on what you are looking for. I've heard folks going to 38mm.

If you look through the last couple pages of the Ask a Racer thread, Rad Randy did a good explanation about how a bigger carb effects the changes in top and bottom end. I'm pretty sure that's where I read that information.:ugh:
