I just installed an 88 cc sturdy big bore kit into a friends trike. Now he claims there is no power in 2nd gear and is popping thru the carburator. Not sure where to go from here. Any help would be great.

if its popping back in the carb,,,, your cam timing is off,, does it have points or cdi?

its has points i just got it back to my house and i moved the needle up 1 and it runs better but still hesitat when giving it gas and it doesn't seem to have the power that it should

Today, I fired up Tonka Trike for the first time. I rebuilt the carb with one of those "save a carb" kits from DRATV. Mine was poping through the carb as well. I pulled the carb and noticed the needle was different than stock. It was shorter and more blunt. I put a OEM needle in and no more popping. Doesn't a lean condition cause popping through the carb? At this point, I think I'm gonna buy a new OEM carb from DRATV instead of fighting with this old carb.
