I just bought an 86 250r frame this last weekend(excellent shape-$50) and want to slowly start building it up. I'm looking for suggestions on what type of motor I can or should put in. The cr500 looks cool(and difficult), but are there any 4-stroke motors that will fit?? Any other motor that can be put in with little hassle?? Thx Tim

those 450 motors are TALL! It would be much easier to put in a CR500 and have a pipe fabbed up.
Possibly the new four-poke 250cc engines but idk. I just know all those motors are tall.

a 250R engine fits nice and makes lots of power.

a 250R engine fits nice and makes lots of power. this is the very best option...unless your looking to make something different.

Thanks for the input guys.
I was just getting ideas just in case I ran across a good deal on a motor that would fit. I sorta figured the 4-strokes are a little tall for the frame. I am leaning toward a 250r just because I could just bolt it in, and bore it out later. Just having some friends trying to talk me in to the cr500, seens how I already have an 82 250r. I just don't want to get into any major frame alterations.
Anyway, I am still in the beginning phase of getting some parts together and preping the frame. The frame looks great and I hate to mess with it, but I think I would like to paint it blue. I'm thinking a blue, silver, black trio of colors for the whole trike. Just haven't figured out the what and wheres. I will post more as I get futher into the project.
