That is a pretty sweet 82 300R... awesome job! I stuck with OEM on mine... got to finish it up... little things, air filter/carb, exhaust and chain and sprockets... Raffa did the motor work for me.... still haven't fired it up yet. Mine came with a old school custom aluminum adapter plate to use the narrow front tire on the 82R hub/forks. And of course, it wouldn't be mine with out a little Hondaline bling... got foot peg covers, speedo and fairing. :headbang:

dude that thing is badass! The smallness of the trike always made me like it so much! I would always guess that a trike like this would be badass on the flattrack/trails. It's so small and powerful!

Sitting on these is cool to! I mean, from far away they seem kinda small but they're a pretty good size once you sit on it! Always on of my favorites!!!

Will you be leaving it all white or putting some flair on it? It looks badass as is! Maybe a numberplate? hmm? Rock on dude :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Great looking rebuild.

Looking at the swinger bearing pics, did you put in the tube that goes between the bearings?? I can not see it in the pics.

without the tube, the bearing will wear out all most immediatly.

Again, great looking rebuild. I just want to make sure you do not have a problem right off the bat.

Funny you mintioned that... The axel does not spin well with out that in there. I got it all together and was turning the axel and it was real tuff. So I was asking my buddy who knows a lil more than me. He was like this is not rite. So About that time I remembered that piece you are talking about.

So yes its in there. LOL

Fire and Avio.. I was thinking the same thing. With the black plastics. I put my buddy's 83'R front fender on it to test ride. I liked it. So I'm thinking I will paint that red rear fender black just to see what it looks like. I was planing on white plastics with some custom "Air Fooled 300R" Stickers... But I may change that.

We'll see in a few weeks.

What front hub do you have on it? If it's 83/84R then a aluminum 200X rim will bolt up. If it's a 85-86R hub, the aluminum 350X (preferably a 85 rim) would bolt up. The 86 has that cast center hub in it.

Just A little update.... I recieved the check for the IRS.. :headbang: :headbang:
Bad new is the attempt to do black fenders is a no go.. NO ONE sells them for the 82' So I say:wtf: :wtf:
Oh well:whine:
So I odered the white 82' rear and a 83' front.. I like the way it was compared to the 82' and it bolts up to my forks which I think are off a 84' 200X.
Also odred a new front tire off ebay.
I am seriously looking at some 350X headlights to go on it. But not sure if I can get them. You guys know how ebay bidding is.
The tank graphis are being made at the local graphics place but they are having isues with matching the 82' font... Once they hash that out I'm go'n to get some made for the fenders too.
:headbang: :headbang: :burnout:
Thats all for now.. Hope to get some stuff in this week.

Dude.... go with a 250R headlight!!! Not even sure if the stator in the 82 250R would support the tandem 35W halogens that a 350X HL has. I say use the 82R headlight with one of the old school "Hockey mask" HL guards painted white. Or if you used the 83-84R Triple trees, put a white 250SX headlight on it.

So that means new clutch cable and may return the lever for new. Also figured out I need a throtle cable.. It sticks a the wrongest of times ... :chuckle: Thats why the made a clutch:chuckle: .... All in all good second ride... Most of the ride was single track stuff but alot of fun none the less. Alm front rim should be in tomarrow and should be breaking into the jug this week to try to get it bored for my new piston.

Yeah almost a same... But not... It was a blast riding.... As far as strong.. I got this motor from a buddy who had the cylinder honed and was a lil over sized. So there is some piston slap and I think some blow-by just cuz its not up to par. It is stong but I think there is alot more to be had. So that is why I have the new piston and gasket kit:headbang: :headbang: I also don't think I quite have the jets rite but as soon as I get the new piston in her.. I was under the impression that the 1982, not a later water pumper, that the air cooled R didn't have that great of a stator. That the 350X lights would both "light up" but NOT be as nearly as bright as they are on an actual 350X. Other people had to modify the electical system beyond just pigtailing the single light into 2 wires for dual lights.:slap:

Oh yeah and that god for saken headlight issue that you guys are arguing about... :mad2: :mad2:

The answer is I will being a white plastic single light. Either off a 200X or some thing of the sort. I personaly think that is the way to go. And understand the whole over tasking stator or under powering the headlights.

So does any one have a white plastic headlight and mount? I can modify the mount to fit.

Sorry for the explosion about the headlight deal. I was just a lil deturbed at the time... Just figured why rant about the headlight on a build up thread....

Ok enough about that on to the good stuff...

My piston was slapping around so bad it was hard to hear yourself think.:mad2: So a new piston(77mm) and bore later..No more slappy slappy:thumbsup: Also I just could not get her to come alive on the top end. And mid range just sucked. After talking with a few guys on here and just tinkering... 40 idel jet and a 130 main jet. :burnout: OMG it came alive.:headbang: :headbang: New FMF turbine core silencer. New throtle cable. New clutch cable. New front tire. Rim off a 200x and painted my old gold hub white. It looks sweet.

Old school mod was to drill the front fender out using a 1-1½" hole saw. Do a search for pics of my 300R. I don't have any pics with me right now. Mine has 6 holes drilled in it in a pyramid like scheme. (like first 6 pins on a bowling alley)
