expect a blown head gasket in 5 minutes,,,,, before you install make sure that your head is flat!!!!! if you have never ran one yet.. the stocker will make up for any uneveness ,,, best thing to do is take some 1000 grit paper and a piece of glass you can run it across a couple of times to see if it is flat,,, then you should be careful when torqueing it down!!!!

your port timming will change too, adding compression, wathc out for pingin

the port timing won't change!!!!!!!! only if you move the cylinder!! you will just get more compression!!!

that was a old racers trick in the stock class,,, put three base gaskets in to raise the ports and shave the head, then when checking with a depth guage it would read the same!!! been there ,,,,

u prolly wont "blow your head gasket in 5min"...i ran one for years its a real cheap go fast mod. it does raise your compression quite a bit so if the rest of the motor cant handle it, u will break something else, but it does raise compression from stock(160-180pds) to over 200pds....which means your buyin race gas at 5bucks a gallon... i dont recommend doing it, better off takin yer head in and having a lil shaved off... currently im running a shaved head with a "modified" ATC gasket, i took the big shiney steel piece outa the middle, and just run the two outer gaskets, been running that for 3+ years at 220pds compression with no probs...good luck make sure u have a good pipe, air filter and rejet

my father used to be big into the old snowmobiles expecially the 70,s arctic caqts with kawasakis in them, he used to take the head gasket and huck them, then you would take a flat mill-******* file and make both the jusg and the head flat and then put them togather with a little gasket dope. he always said it was an easy fast mod. but i am leay of it with my sled, seems to risky and i already have a hard enough time finding parts for a 74 sled.

hey bill your NOT always right!!!!!! back in the late 60's before there was even a team honda ,my dad use to use the base gasket trick when we raced go karts, we ran itialian engines called seatta's and komets . they were 100cc engines that had a removable cylinder unlike the american made mac engines so i don't think team honda was the first to do this!!!!!!

tell me that you have never in 17 years checked a head to see if it was flat before bolting it on a new engine ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

KASEY you misunderstood i was refuring to the 250R and the 250R only when i made that statement about Team Honda. you are right about cheaking the head and for the record i do it everytime i remove or replace a head
