PAID!! 2 Sets!

Cant wait to figure this out... soon going to be building my bottom end.. So its going to be awsome.. if this motor does'nt slip..

my 200X cost $521 to fix the kicker spring.. it slips every like 109th kick.. and I am sure in the future I will have issues.. So I will be installing them on it.. once I get the knowledge how to.. after I build my new bottom end.

I wish I knew this before.. I would of gave the mechanic the washers.. might of saved a tear down..
Oh well..

Its a good fix now!!
THANKS AL!

PAID FOR 2 VIA PAYPAL!

OK you all ask but you will not get all the info except with the shim washers.
but I will tell you this... What Raffa did is part of the fix.

here is a pic of the flat spots on the end of the ratchet teeth. they must be dressed up because the ratchet teeth will set on the flat spot and when you kick it over it will slip. They must all come to a point.

if you look at the pic, you can see one of the teeth is starting to look like a candy corn. the straight up edge
is starting to lean back.

I placed the ratchet gear in a vise, and with a air cut off wheel with a thin cut off disk, lowered the cut off wheel following the slope of the tooth in front of the one your cutting ..just enough to back cut the tooth..tomorrow I will finninsh them up with a file. and post some close ups

I asked Raffa to explain how he did it because, if you look at the pic I put up, you can see one of the teeth is starting to look like a candy corn. the straight up edge
is starting to lean back.

ya thoe's teeth look really bad dads mine still had the flat face and were hardly wore..I would say throw the top one out and use the bottom one.
If you run the air cut off wheel the right way , It will leave a small flat face 90 degree , vertical.
I took a flat file and cleaned up the face on each tooth, to make them all the same ..as you can see I maked with a blue sharpy.. these really bite each other and by twisting them together like they normaly would,,wile pulling them apart..The harder you twist it the better it grips. I didnt want to take any more metal off than I had too..for strength ..other than that..thats pretty mutch it.;)

I suggest getting a new good file ..right off the batt..as mine took a beating from the hardend steel:headbang:

I found a real bad kicker for that pic so it would show up good.

I have a Question.. Would one of you be willing to do this for me?? IF i sent you a set of gears, paid for your time and a file. And the return shipping?? or should I just do it myself? lol

I purchased the washers from Dads. And I am going to be putting together a bottom end soon I hope.

Just wondering..

Thanks for the Washers!!! got them today!! just awaiting some kicker gears to try and do it myself!!
Wel will see.. .

Does anyknow know if the gears can be taken out by removing the side cover?? i am guessing no... because I had to pay $521.00 to get my spring replaced and it was a complete motor tear down....
But you never know it could be possible.
anyone know this ???

Thanks again Dads!

No and no and no.......

I don't recommend ANYONE does this repair themselves unless they have numerous engine teardowns under their belt.

One wrong move and the entire engine must be split again, not a fun mistake!!

Those cuts look great Raffa, I always felt they should be done on a rotary table with a wheel in a milling machine but your hand made mesh looks to be pretty darn good!!
