I'm looking at gettting a atc 70 from a friend for $200. It's in rough shape i'll try to take some pics tomorrow. Needs plastics, seat, rebuilt motor, but the motor rolls over when you pull it VERY easily. Anyone's thoughts on what i'm about to be going through?
I believe it is a 84

And yes i know ....

If it's that bad for 200 you might be paying too much. Pristine they might fetch 800-1000. You figure 150.00 for plastic. 80.00 for a plastic tank. 200-300 to rebuild the motor. 150-200 for tires. For the cost of rebuilding the motor you could get a chinese import and have a brand new motor. This means better power and no points to screw with. I absolutely love mine. If your seat pan is gone, lots of luck finding one cheap. That would be the first thing to check. I have been messing with fiberglass to replace the pan. An option for sure. If you need to redo the seat with a good pan maybe 40.00 for foam and about 35.00 for a cover. Brake pads about 17.00. wheel bearings and seals about 30.00.. It adds up very quickly. One thing to look at on the one your friend has is to pull the gas tank and see if the backbone of the frame is bent. The tube should be straight. Is the axle straight? Rear brake cable is about 15.00. and so on. Giv ethe trike a thorough going over before you buy it. This has been my experience with the two I've just redone.
