is it hard to replace the steering stem bearings on a 250 es big red 1985 i know it will be time consuming cause of all the controls that i have to remove but is it hard to replace the bearings any tips and advice is appreciated thanks

are you going witht he regular old ball bearings? if so its simple. you just take the handlebars off conrolls right on them unto the ig nut on the stem and the bolts on the shocks and slide it off, then get a jack and take some prussure of the fron end loosen the spanner nut and then jack the frame off the fron end. and scrape out the old bearings and greese put in some thick heavy greese on the bottom like in my case i used grease that had been in the freezer. and lather up the race, set in the bearings and let it down then do the same to the top, but the top is much more simple. then simply tighten and re assemble i use channle locks for the spanner nut by the way they work out pretty good.
