xr200 carb question

This might be a dumb question, but I am asking it anyway. From what i've read the 86-87 200x are difficult to get aftermarket parts for. I am looking at exhaust/carb setup for my 86. The exhaust I can handle finding, but what year xr should I use for the carb? Is it a straight swap, or do I need to basterdize some stuff? Thanks!

if i remember correctly the xr200 carb will go rite on. but im not 100% sure on that. as for what year to use id say any year would be ok. im not a bike fan so i couldnt ell ya. i just used a trail blazer 240 carb on my auto-x . all i needed was a intake boot to slide the carb into.

I am NOT sure on 86-87 200X!. I heard they are different setup than a 83-85. I KNOW the intake is different..Not sure on carbs.

i was running a 86-87 200x carb on my 83-85 200x intake boot. if the xr mounts the same as a 83-85 200x it should mount to a 86-87 .

Like I said.. I just know the INTAKE is different..not sure of carb..
Never was lucky enough to have 86-87 model....:(

When I dig into it more and find out something concrete I will post my findings. Not sure when that will be exactly, you know, money and stuff seems to get in the way.

ok ok dont believe me. i have a 86 carb sitting on my spare auto-x motor that i bought off super90 . the 86 carb mounts to the 83-85 intake .

huh? i never said i didnt believe you. i dont know anything about this, so im not in the position to argue. actually i read your post wrong, been sick lately so my head isnt all there. i gotcha now, by all logic it should work i guess.

sorry to hear it man...i hope ya get better. it should work. if you wanna make sure measure the mounting distance for the carb. (center of one mounting hole to the center of the other) then ill do the same on a 85 carb i have and that will tell us if a xr200 carb will or will not fit you intake boot. im sure it will fit. but when low on money (such as me) double check and by once lmao. i hear ya man trust me.

My 85 200x has an 86 200x carb on it....
Im sure the XR200 will fit an 86
