Hey everyone, I just traded for an old 1985 ATC 70. Well carb was gunked up with rust since tank was rusty, so I bought a rebuild kit. What are the settings for each screw? (I saw an idle and a high speed I think) Also I am having problem getting my front tire to hold air. I haven't removed it to inspect, but could you use it without the o ring I hear about in the rim? The brakes don't engage at all, how could I fix this? I messed with the adjustment on the back with the wingnut, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I can't figure out if my bike is a 4 speed or not, I need to crank it up. Can someone tell me all about the ATC70, maintenance and everything I should know.
Thanks,
Jacob

First off, the 85 is a 4 speed. If the carb is that messed up you could spend the money to buy a rebuild kit but the reality is you'de be better off replacing it. You can get a brand new carb from Sterdy products for 99.00. When you stop to consider the time, money, and aggrevation (sp) trying to get you old one fixed you're better off in the long run. Trust me. been there.
If your front rim doesn't have a tube, you need the oring. If the tire is good then your rim is probably corroded. Get a tube to fix that. Your trike probably needs brake pads. DRATV has pads pretty cheap. You might as well disassemble the brakes, clean everything, lube everything, and install some new pads. Service the motor. Change the oil, put in a new plug.
The problem is most of the 70s have been left outside to rot. Yours probably wasn't maintained. Lookup Damnit's profile. He has a link to a download site to download the 85 manual for free.

Here's the download site for Sterdy. You can get the 85 manual for free but you have to register. Add it to the cart and follow the instruction.

Thanks a lot! How many o rings on a rim do a need, 2? Could you link me to where I could get them and the brakes for cheap? I still would like to know how many turns on those screws in the carb.

Here ya go;

They're prices are good and shipping is very speedy. Never had a bad purchase with them.
Start at 1.5 turns on the carb.
Each rim only has 1 oring. The important thing is to get all the corrosion off the bead of the rim as well as the mating surfaces of the rim where the Oring goes. As smooth as possible. I use vaseline on the rim bead when I reassemble the wheel.

I ordered my carb parts off dratv. I think the pads will be fine (but haven't looked) I have tried turning the wingnut but it is hitting the metal inside and won't turn further. When I pull the lever, I'm not feeling or getting any contact.

Your gonna have to disassemble the brakes. They're probably frozen in place. Turning the wing nut won't do any good.
