Just wondering if anybody knows what makes the clutch lever so damn hard to pull on a '86 250r. I drove a cr 250 this weekend and I want my clutch to pull as effortlessly as the cr, or is this just impossible. I put on a new cable, oil it frequently, ran along frame so as to aviod any sharp bends, and have the cable going into the perch as straight as possible; and yet still pulls hard. I figure must be something with the design, but I could be wrong? Has anybody done anything to there clutch to help alleviate this problem?

to be honest: a harder clutch pull is a good thing........end up with a clutch lever that pulls effortlessly and fin yourself buying a new CLUTCH.
But you can go and buy one of those "e-z-pull" levers..they use linkage to tone the pull down easy. Not too expensive either..like $19.99 if i remember right...look in some mags. ;0)
also: you can jsut adjust your clutch LEVER by adjusting the little ... adjuster (yeah weird arse sentence there lol)

i have heavy duty springs in my 250r and it is a bioch to pull. i pulled wildchilds clutch and it was like a pw50 clutch:D i think i may put the stock springs back in but i have no worries about my clutch slipping:headbang:

Yeah, I was gonna say it sounds like aftermarket springs. The stock clutch on my '85 pulls lighter than any other I've tried. It pulls a lot easier than my son's Blaster.

Yep i agree it is the springs. I would replace them with stock springs. As far as burning out the clutch. You can get a new clutch disc set for around $10.00. And a new side gasket is only a few bucks. So i wouldnt worrie to much about that. I know how sore my fingers get trying to work a hard clutch all day. And it makes it real hard on slow riding when you have to ride the clutch alot.

I used to have jsut a standard clutch lever (could also be the same as a brake lever) and that was hard as hell to pull. But since I put my banshee clutch lever on, its a good bit easier due to the banshee lever being longer & getting me more leverage.
Ive got a atc250r clutch lever & cable comin today though ;))

Have any of you tried a Hydralic clutch? just like pulling on your front brakes :) Kind of expensive but it will never fade over the course of a ride. (About $159 from ebay)
