Hopefully I'll be putting my 200X back together soon. I bought a truckload of parts from a guy just after I bought the trike and there is an axle 4" wider than my original. I'm thinking of using it and was just wondering what the pros and cons might be. The only cons I can think of are the fact that I won't be able to fit through quite as small spaces(no big deal) and it might be harder on the bearings.
I'm guessing it will be more stable, but have absolutely no experience with wider axles. Any input is appreciated...thanks.

you are right about the bearings and turning will be a little more difficult plus u get really dirty wuth the wheels sticking out farther but high speed and general wheeling u will feel stable as hell
If you are a woods rider I would not use it, unless you have wide trails! :werd:

O man just the thought of a wider axle, I would not use it out here on the Washington Trails.
The trails are super tight, Mostly Dirt Bike Riders where i ride.

I find with the newer 4x quads being so big the trails are getting wider anyway around here,I have been debating the same thing but more looking at hill climbing and how a narrower track will make dirtbike style single track climbs more possible

Most trikes are narrower than 4x4 ATVs. Unless things are really tight already, 4" isn't a huge width gain that you'll lose your trails. Just take it a bit slower that first ride through it's a tight area. Sometimes a trail "feels" tight, but if you stop and actually look at a tight spot, I've found I've got plenty of clearance on each side.

I don't know if you have done it yet or not but, go for it:thumbsup: .I had a 78' atc 90,it didn't have a wider axle but it had 400ex hubs and wheels on it(cool mod, spead it around). It handled way!!! better.you didn't have to lean near as much, and if you did, lets just say power slides were endless and efortless.I had to lean the wrong way just to get it to tip over at all.I think every trike should be a few inches wider, there probaly would have been alot less wrecks from from poeple who didn't know how to ride.

we curently have 5 trikes. all but the 250sx are 4" wider than stock. 1 w/the axle and 3 w/spacers. we love it and wouldnt go back! some others have said 4 aint much?! it makes all the difference in the world. ya notice it right away!

I have been so busy this summer that my engine is still in pieces on my bench and I'm still needing a few parts (bearings and seals)before I put it back together. From what everybody has said, I want to throw the +4 axle in there when I put her back together...narrow trails are not a problem around here anyway. Thanks for all the input...it really helped me make my decision.
