So I've noticed in the past week or so that my idle screw has no effect what so ever. The only way for me to change the idle is with the throttle cable on the handlebars.

What is wrong/what did I do wrong?

It's a stock 85 250R carb, with a 48 in the slow, 145 in the main, clip in 1st position, and air screw at 2 turns.

Is this something simple like needing a new throttle cable or something? A little insight would be appreciated.

I would spray the carb and base gaskets with carb cleaner to see if you have a bad seal somewhere. the extra air, might hinder your idle

or you have no slack in the throttle cable,,, you should have slack,,, thumb or twist :?

It's a thumb

can you move the throttle without moving the slide at all? it should move a little,,, that way the slide can rest on the adjuster screw

I think Kasey is onto it, but concider the crank seals as another distant possibility. The 85 carb is much easier than the 86. I cant stand the idle set up on a flat side.

Yea, that does make logical sense. Let me play with it, and I'll get back to ya.
