So I am starting this thread over since the other one got shut down.:nono: :slap:

I have been looking a little harder at the kawasaki 700 motors. They have 800, 900, and such kits for these and have had some hit over 100hp! I know it would be a heavy pig, but I think it may be a decent idea for a drag/easy rider trike. Drag with the 100+ motor, easy being the single speed, stop and go only mentality of the kawi! I know all about them being v-twins but they are not too long to make it fit!

The more I think about the independant trike idea, the more flaws I can see so I gravitated to this! A 700 C-raptor motor would also be a decent motor (if you wanted to wheelie forever) for a trike, just some thoughts pouring out of my head. Any responses?

how do you think the independant rear suspension of the 700xx, would feel as a trike conversion. sounds dangerous in the turns. or maybe its better i dont know, just interested in what you guys think about the rear suspension.

im not a suspension expert nore do i pretend to be but i dont think it would work too good. only because trikes kinda depend on the solid axle to stay upright and semi stable. if you were to put irs on a trike i dont think it would have the stability needed to stay upright.

like i said im no suspension expert but thats my 2 cents on it.

We just picked up another Ninja 750 engine for the Nin-z, bone stock 100 hp.

my gut reaction says it wouldn't work on a trike like it does on a quad. the inherent handling qualities are just too different.

I think it would be terrain favoring, in the right situation it would work good.without the solid axle it is going to roll more, but unless its long soft travel it will not want to roll right over might need a stiffer set up than quad without fronts to help.possible more body english, finesse ,and better rideing skills

thought it sonuded dangerous. even in a little turn its going to take you hanging off the bike and a little bit of prayer to keep that thing from going on one bad roll. and you can forget about a donut. this is all just my theory. if they wanna make the conversion. i say more power to em. hopefully somebody can prove me wrong and build one sick trike.

i just dont see it working to the point where it is practical. i dont think it would be too safe. if someone put isp on a trike and started to make a isp kit it would really give trikes a bad name. there is just something about a trike with irs that scares the crap out of me. i can see it now in the news "man killed on 3 wheeler with irs stay tuned for details on news at 11"

just my 2 cents.........again

If you ran a strong Anti-swaybar it would help a ton, We use them on all the flattrak bikes to get the proper rear wheel traction.

Look at the Polaris IRS system itt bolts in place of the swingarm, woudnt be too hard to adapt to a trike.

what about a rear set-up like this?

I think the system you showed would be very interesting to try! I dont know if it could work on trike, like Nick said you would need one hell of a sway bar and the more I think about how I ride, I think the indepenant part would just buckle and roll if I dug in and leaned to hard in a turn!

Here is a sick thought. Quad front end, missle kit in the rear! Just run a wide ass tire with about 15 paddles in the sand.

Here is your next project layed out for you Bill! Now you dont have to waste the front half!!!!!!!!!!!!( I know I already brought this up in your you decide thread Bill but i really didnt get any responses) :lmao:

Ive seen pictures of several diffrent quads with a single rear, maily raptors, They where doing that to make them street legal. Also back in the 80's one of the 3 wheeler magazines did a test rideon one if i rember corectly.

I think the IRS would be awesome for trail riders, Thats what the quads are ment for, they get some AWESOME ground clearance. Ruts, stupms, rocks, snow, mud, All that chit you rear sproket and roater arnt going to rubbin agenst any more.

yup, dirtwheels late 80s maybe had that reverse trike thing

Dammit!

The Dirtwheels reverse trike was a Yamaha BW200 Big Wheel with a quad conversion kit intended to turn a trike into a quad grafted on to it.

One of my coworkers had a Kawasaki H2 750 on alcohol installed in his banshee. One ride down at winchester scared the sh$t out of him. He said the ride and vibration was intolarable. He pulled the motor after one ride and it sits in his garage today. Some great ideas end bad!!:( I don't know what the 700 puts out, but for sure it is TOO MUCH for a trike.
