Well, there is hope....You could probably get it for cheap and then find a front end and a frame to a Z and put it back together the way God intended it to be.

WHATS WRONG WITH THEM????

oK, OK, I know that one looks a bit crap but once i have finished mine it should look a bit better.

As you can see it is in need of some TLC

If you want to see it going through it's rebuild have a look at : Be Amazed (http://www.dgrallying.com/quads/pictures/index.htm)

Tell me what you think, be honest.......

Well, it looks pretty cool, but the real question is, how does it handle? :D

What year Tri-Z is that? 85?

My biggest gripe would be with the way the front end looks, especially the front fenders... I'm not too crazy about them.

Sorry - you asked!

;)

I guess all that really matters is, do you have fun riding it?

dgrallying

I don't now what it is like to ride yet.

I brought it, took it home and started stripping it down.

Have you had a chance to look at the web page yet??

Kingsnake

I just noticed your page in you sig now that you mentioned it...

I think if you wrote it as http://www.dgrallying.com/quads it would automatically show up as a hyperlink... :)

Looks like you've got a lot of work ahead of you! Just a little friendly advice - find another Tri-Z frame on ebay (or cut the quad front end off) and a good set of original forks and put it back together the way god intended it to be!
Besides, you've got that great Quadracer there for a quad already - why not own a kick-arse trike too? :headbang:

If I were you, my main concern would be with the strength/integrity of the frame on the "Quad-Z" ;) , particularly at the bottom of the original frame where it has had the front end welded on...
Not to mention that those upper and lower a-arms look a bit flimsy...

Don't get me wrong - I like riding quads too, but nothing beats the feeling of riding a trike! Just my honest opinion. :D

Either way good luck with your project!

Cheers!
Sean

Hi Sean

Thanks for your concerns but I also was thinking of the same problems!

As for the Conversion back to a trike that may have to be next years project :D

The frame has just gone away for sand blasting and then powder coating in a nice blue. Then i have got to make some alloy Nerf Bars.

By the way i need to get a exhaust for it either a LRD or DG, i have e-mailed LRD 3 times but they have never replied, do you have any ideas where i can get a complete exhaust???

I also need the carb manifold (From Bore to Carb) to fit a Mikuni 38mm any ideas where i can get this from???

Any help would be much appreciated.

Rob's right, Dean, www.ebaymotors.com (http://www.ebaymotors.com) is a great place to start! Use their search feature for "YTZ250, Tri-Z 250" etc. and that should help you find the parts you need faster.

You can also try PartsFish (http://www.powersportspro.com/partsfish/login.asp?) . This is a great resourse too, since it is loaded with schematics/diagrams of just about every sigle part for the 85-86 Tri-Z 250's!

I believe you are looking part for #7?
It's listed there as: Joint, Carburator $30.38 US
Although I'm not sure if it will fit the 38mm carb you mentioned...

And you can give Dennis Kirk a try for the exhaust:

http://www.denniskirk.com/powervendor/lists/partlist.asp?Type=09&SubType=exhaustsystems&Name=&makemodelyear=Yamaha;YTZ250%20Tri-Z;1985
(Sorry not sure which link will work)
