well i tore my 250r down to determine why it was running so SLOW :D anyway i discovered that the piston had a little galling but the cylinder is fine. the ring gap spec is .020", mine was at .060" i wonder how much power i was losing???? i still have to measure it to see if i can get way without boring the cylinder:doh:

yes but i planned to reuse the cylinder and piston on my good bottom. the good bottom has new bearing, seals, and PERFECT cases! i would rather use this bottom end until i destory it, and sve the new bottom until i need it or sell it to help fund the 500r conversion.
BTW the 500r conversion is VERY close. i have a 86 250r chassis and have located a complet 500r for $500!!:D

Now i like 3 wheelers and all but why dystroy such a butiful bike??? you should just find a motor. i would die for one of those bikes and 500 bucks. how could someone like me go rong love both bikes and trikes and get a bike to go with the trike for CHEAP!!

You ought to turn the bike into a trike. That way you'd have a frame designed to handle the motor.
Just mod the frame to accept the swing arm & shock.

There are alot of geometry issues in using a 500r frame . if you are building a drag racer i think a 500r frame would be your best bet. in a 250r frame its like riding a stock 250r because no geometry changes . there are several issues with both chassis , what you plan on doing with it has alot of bearing on which to use,,,,,,,,, :D:D:D:D:D-----------------:D:D:D:D:D

well I was going to bore mine, but the cylinder looked so good I didn't do it. Mike it first, you might get away w/ honing and standard bore, I did on my R, but it was very low hour. I think the clearance on the standard piston was 3 or 3 1/2 hundreths, and it has good compression. I think it's cool to really have a 250 hehe not a 252 1/2 or something :salute:
