I would not have it. You will burn up a 12 volt if you plan to use it for even a minimal amount of time. Get a 120 volt, even they do not last long under heavy use. In my line of work I get to burn one up every now and then on industrial duct work that is bolted together. A 120 volt would probably be fine for light automotiv/ATV work, but they are very bulky. If you have an air compressor I would definitely go with a small air powered impact, they are around 30 -50 dollars at Home Depot. I bought a manual, hammer powered, impact today for $19.00, and it looks just as good as the $40.00 model, is American made, and has a life time guarantee. Best -

sockets are in 1/4 inch drive (smallest), 3/8 in (medium) and 1/2 in drive (largest) wel there are larger but typical mechanics set. How manyy sizes of ratchets do u have? Typical impact is 1/2 inch drive needing a half inch drive socket. since u are only gonna use it for the job ur doing go to a local rental place that has one, I'm sure someplace around will rent u what u need. Do u have an air compressor?

Check out the link below. The quality of some of the tools may not be the best but if it's for occasional use the price is right.

OMG Harbor Freight tools are junk! I've bought some and they are crap, they brake the minute you want to use them.

regular sockets will work but unless they're quality ones (snap-on,craftsman,mac,etc.) they'll break quickly. buy some "impact" sockets in the sizes you'll use. it'll save you money in the long run if you use it much. I'd go with a 1/2" drive.
