If you get the 225 jug to bolt on, you've accomplished something. The 225 is a 4-stroke, you've got a 2-stroke. Not sure what the difference in those engines is but I think the 125/175 is similar, the jug may fit but you'd at least have to swap out a piston...there may be more involved than that though.

yeah i think i can get the 175 on it to get a bigger piston in it that jug on ebay is alot cheaper then boring the 125 out to what ever i go and stock parts are usally cheaper to to keep it running thanks

Yes you can bolt on the 175 top end (use the piston, cylinder, and head). I would also go with the 175 carb as well.

You can bolt on the yt175 front end and have some suspension. For the 175, it's best to find the whole 175 top end and bolt on the head, cylinder, exhaust and carb and intake. The 125 has a 4 bolt head and I can't rmember if the 175 is 5 or 6 bolts, so you would have to use the 175 cylinder. Also, there are suspension kits for the yt125/175 trikes as I have 2 now and a 3rd on the way.

The 125 rips a little too good for being a hardtail and no front suspension or front brakes. The 175 is kind of crazy. At least it has front breaks and somewhat of a front suspension. Real wheelie machines with the engine set as far back as they are. They take a good bit of getting used to them. I wouldn't start someone off on a 125 or 175 if they have never ridden a trike before. You have to get use to getting up off the seat and getting some weight on that front end when starting off. The 125 and 175 were unpopular for 1st time riders, but for someone who had some previous 3 wheel saddle time, a real blast. Caution your lady to be very easy with the throttle or she will surely end up bringing the trike up and over. Not a pleasant experience for a new rider. And with some massaging and some finding of old performance parts, the 175 will get really crazy. Parts are still out there. I just bought an nos bassani. And anything you can do to a 2 stroke, porting, polishing, reed work, shaving the head or changing the dome cc's you can do to a 175!!!
Suspension kits, they are out there, but you will have to look long and hard. Probably easier to find on the west coast than the east coast. I've run across 3 so far so they are out there, but you have to know what you are shopping for as some of the kits I've bought were missing parts and they had to be made so it's not just a buy and bolt on all the time. But to me, the hunt is half the fun.

I think he's referring to the 3m pads. The pads come in red or green. They are kind of rectangular in shape and you can get just the pads or they even make a kit that will work with a small air grinder or electric drill. You have to be careful with the grinder or the drill cause they can really remover alot of aluminum real fast. On delicate areas, you may just want to use the hand pads. You should be able to find them around the body shop section in your local auto parts store. That engine must have gotten alot of moisture at one time to be rusty like that or at least it sat around for many years. It will take alot of elbow grease, but it's not a total loss. Also if the inside is that rusty, you may as well count on replacing all the bearings and seals and such. More work and more money, but hey, we can't take it with us right. And my old drill instructor said, "builds character!" Man we hated him. LOL
