I'm with kasey...bad idea! A carb upgrade is one of those things you do after you do alot of other stuff like exhaust, piston, cam, etc.

Well I do have lots a upgrades, heres some:
COBRA Exhaust, Wiseco piston w/ 12:1 compression ratio, mild web cam & cam chain, new barnett kevlar clutch kit, K & N air filter. Its bored .20 also, that all I cant remember:doh: :)

Still bad idea/? Think I should just keep it (its a nice carb isnt it?) and jsut put in on my new trike which will be a 250 2 stroke?..

yeah you're probably ready for a bigger carb since you have a cam and all, but unless you want to kill your bottom end I'd go with a 32mm or smaller carb.

a 34m carb was stock on a tecate or 250r. the tri-z used a 32mm carb. if you get a 2stroke trike you're gonna wanna go to a 36 or 38mm if you need to upgrade carbs so you might as well sell that one. I might be interested if it's wide enough to fix my tecate problems. ;)

do i hear something drowning? no really it's way big,i've got a 30mm mic vm on my 200 now and i would call it the limit. i've been waiting 3 weeks for new needles to come in just to see how close to the limit it is.
but on the flip side the totally improperly jetted 30 allowed me to go to 13 40 gearing with my 250lb butt on it and 1st isn't used all that much still, that's why i'm waiting to try different needles before playing with the 28mm again as the needles are both 5's so they interchange and i'll see which performs the best.

other things to keep in mind are the intake side bell on any of these carbs isn't going to fit in the stock boot and i've looked at my 34 compared to the 200 and it's so far off you'd kill the flow. i made a delrin adapter for my carbs(both are different) so i can retain the stock air box and tube as it's really messy in CT.
also the throttle cable is way to short, i've got the old twist throttle from my 86 250r on the vm now and the cable should be a little longer. my new motion pro cable for the thumb throttle to the 28mm/30 came in this week so i'll be using this from now on. when i get done with all the testing on the two carbs i'll post my feelings, but that's gonna be awhile as i found that the stock honda 250 head gasket is too thick and i'm swapping it now because my bottom end disappeared!

sorry dan, but if you are already planning on buying a 250r, then i would keep it, even though they are the same size, a flat slide carb is far supperior to a normal round slide, even with the same size, you will feel an increase in power with just adding the that carb. but i am agreeing with everyones saying on not to put it on your 200x, like kasey said they are quite a bit different inside. and since you have an 87, i wouldnt do any thing to harm it.
