i have no idea, but i am letting you know that i have read your post. :D a pipe, gearing, and compression would be a good start

I agree a pipe and maybe a bigger carb. And tires and gears are allways a great place to start for fairly cheap mods. With out having to get into spendy motor work.

definitely reeds, pipe, high-flo filter and carb. beyond that you can shave the head, high comp piston (if available), port the jug. change the sprockets for better gearing, etc. I'd try and get it running first though.

Trikeaholic from 3WW modded his 175 and everyone over there talked about it like it was really fast. I think he'd be the man to ask. I don't mean to detract from here by saying this at all, just tryin to help ya out. -Aaron

You should be able to get the reeds from Dennis Kirk. I believe that they are Boyeson Power Reeds. Same with getting the filter. As far as getting a after market muffler, nobody makes one anymore. If your lucky you'll find one on e-bay.

I also highly recomend buying a maual of some kind. There is no better place to find the info that you will need to know. Th e YT 125 and the YT 175 are not that much different. They share a lot of common parts. If you need any, let me know. I have two YT 125's for parts. Might be able to help you........Chuck

By the way, I have two service manuals to help with any tech questions/technical you may have. If needed I may be able to send some instructions.

Your trike has an oil injection system meaning that the carb aids in mixing the gas/oil mixture. If you can fit a DX/DR carb on there you will have to eliminate the oil injection system and start mixing your gas. Remember the 175 is 2-stroke and a DX/DR is a 4-stroke

I'm not really sure of the exact ratio but I would certainly run it rich on the oil. Not lean.

ya, mine is wicked fast, smokes my 86 200x badly. a very fun ride. DG head, white bros pipe, mild porting. An IT 200 bike would be a good start for parts. the boost bottle is a good mod, so is the head, unless you find a DG, wich is unlikely. Same goes for the pipe, not made anymore. Also, the IT carb would be good, but you would have to mix the gas. I personally think the YT carb is fine. The pipe is the real bummer on a stock 175 trike. The WB pipe made all the diff in the world. I have a rusted out DG pipe for mine, I guess it could be copied by a competent sheet metal guy. I guess You can have it, if you want it. send me a PM, arrange for shipping and its yours. Its un useable as it is, POSSIBLY could be fixed up, holes filled, sanded and painted, but I was lucky enough to find the WB pipe and silencer. Im running stock reeds, too, and Im guessing that some nice new reeds would make it even scarier to ride, you know, with no suspension and all. I have some forks and a tire too, that were left over from the restoration.

I also run the injection system with bombardier snowmobile injection oil.
