I have an 86 350x that starts second kick when its cold, it runs perfect , and has plenty of power, but as soon as you shut it off or stall it in the deepest mud hole, it won't start by kicking. I have one of my buddies push it with their quad and it fires and runs perfect. Any ideas?

dumb question but.... are you turning the choke off?

does it smoke any? hard starting when hot could be the compression getting weak.

It could be something seperating when it get`s hot. Like maybe the winding in the coil. Not making as much spark as when it is cold. And spinning it over faster could give it enough spark to get it running again. Does it seem like it is getting enough fuel?. Is it maybe vapor locking?. Is the gas tank vent woring properly?.

Could it be your jetting? I know that with my jetting its much easier to start it in the cold than in the hot or even after I stall. But i fixed that acutally-I just cleaned out my carb (for no reason) and whyll I was doin it, I adjusted my idle up the slightest bit. try it-=havnt had my problem since (0:

My experence is that 350x's need a lot of fuel to start. What works for me starting hot is to turn off the kill switch, kick it through twice with the throttle wide open, and then turn the kill switch back on and kick it through with no throttle.

Not being able to start a 350x when it stalls is a common problem, It is what more 350x riders complain about than anything else

yeah starting a stalled 350x is one of those rare times when it pays to be fat.

I don't know much about 350's but you might want to check your HOT valve lash, just might be holding a valve open during compression.

your description of kicking it over with run switch off and throttle wide open is the method to clear a flooded engine
it sounds like you have too much fuel
alot of stuff to check
but first check you throttle cable for play if the cable has too much play it will pull out a little and the rubber bootis holds it away from the adjuster thus holding the throttle open a little =too much gas
